[edit] Inappropriate Google ads?

GYMNOS: I'm very glad that this Wiki exists. I hope to contribute somewhat, but as the opportunities for nude recreation in my part of the world (Ohio, USA) are limited, I'll probably learn from others more than I am able to contribute.

Unfortunately, I need to start this discussion with a complaint. It looks like a significant percentage of the sponsored Google ads on this site are targeted at the sexualized aspects of nudity, nudism and naturism rather than the communal, family-oriented non-sexual values this site purports to espouse. There must be a way to get relevant ads without the ones that obviously equate nudity with sexuality. Gymnos 01:00, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello,

Thanks for your email. Please send me URLs of any imappropriate adverts and I can blacklist them from appearing on Wikia.

The problem might be due to the way Google tries to serve up contextually relevant advertising, so assumes that a site with "naked" in the title is relevant to this sort of advertising. An alternative is to move away from Google ads and use non-contextual advertising instead. We've done this for http://dofus.wikia.com and http://runescape.wikia.com/ due to problems with "gold" adverts which go against the rules of the game.

If you would like to switch to those sorts of ads, please let me know.
